Community Labor United (CLU) is a new partnership of organized labor and community groups formed to promote progressive approaches to economic development and job creation. Since it was formed in 2004, CLU has been bringing community and labor organizations together to address shortcomings in local school systems and create new training and job opportunities for youth, particularly young adults with criminal records. Through CLU's efforts a new partnership was recently forged between the Painters Union, Boston Public Schools and community activists to create a new apprenticeship program geared to inner city youth.
