Convenings are working sessions for leaders of community-labor coalitions to share common challenges and effective approaches to building regional power.Civic Leadership Institute for Organizers - February 2008

Many leaders developing path-breaking community-labor partnerships in their regions have found it valuable to draw on the experience of colleagues from other cities, either before or after they have launched Civic Leadership Institutes at home. New and seasoned movement-builders alike have gained energy, inspiration and new tools through exchanges with their peers.

To date, Building Partnerships has sponsored two such gatherings of leaders from different regions:

April 2006 -

• to gather feedback on the Civic Leadership Institute experience of front-line organizations which have hosted them; and
  
• collect feedback from the field on their needs for capacity-building support.
  

February 2008 -

• to discuss Regional Power Building strategies for community-labor coalitions; and
• to expose new regions to the Civic Leadership Institute as a vehicle for deepening community-labor partnerships.
